Summary of activities
The First 24Hrs Foundation conducts its charitable activities through three main pathways to interaction with the Community including:Direct Community SupportThe provision of Printed MaterialDiscussion Groups and Educational SeminarsDirect Community Support covers the provision of direct interaction with the community for response to disaster or emergency events and for the provision of immediate hands on assistance for preparedness. The activities that the First 24Hrs Foundation has undertaken in the last twelve months include; 1.Providing assistance to the Cherbourg Aboriginal Community for the communities overall preparedness for disasters, and how they respond to events and how they respond to the ongoing challenges post a disaster or emergency event.2.Assisting three Families in the Ipswich Community for evacuation of their household effects in preparation for the January 2013 flooding that occurred. One of these families required extensive assistance due to having two family members with serious health issues. The most urgent health issue was with a newborn baby that was born prematurely and required access to electricity and a clean environment. Unfortunately the electricity service provider was required cut off the power to the area due to risks associated with the potential flood. This resulted in the family members being required to care for the young baby and they needed assistance with moving their equipment and family household effects.
