Summary of activities

Operation Smile Australia sends credentialed medical volunteers from all over Australia to developing countries to provide safe, effective surgical care to local children and young adults. Our focus is on the craniofacial area and we typically treat conditions such as cleft lip and cleft palate, encephalocele, complex facial clefts and tumours. Our volunteer medical professionals also provide training and support to local doctors and nurses to help build sustainability in the countries we work in. OSA also brings children to Australia that we have identified as necessary to receive more complex surgery than can be performed in their home country. These surgeries are carried out at the Mater Hospital in Brisbane.
