The Institute maintains a Military Library classified as being of National Significance by the Australian Library, which is available for research by members and the public.
The Institute provides a monthly lecture program which seeks to promote an understanding of defence and national security with a focus on the defence of Australia and its interests, within the broader context of national, international and global security concerns.
