Description of charity's activities and outcomes
Improved awareness and education of allergy and other immune diseases for health professionals, schools and childcare and the community by continuing to provide free educational on-line training and guidelines.Improved communication to the community through a monthly e-newsletter, Facebook and Twitter accounts. Developed national guidelines for infant feeding and allergy prevention and updated action plans for anaphylaxis. Improved the management of primary immunodeficiency (PID) patients with new on-line resources. PID consultants and medical trainees met to improve knowledge and collaboration. ASCIA's national conference on allergy and immune disease brought international speakers to Australia and provided a national forum for discussion of current research and clinical practice. Medical research to improve the health of people living with allergy and immune disease was supported through Allergy and Immunology Foundation of Australasia AIFA grants. Fundraising initiatives included a silent auction and participation in community events.
