Description of charity’s activities and outcomes
In 2013 Garvan pioneered studies into the most widespread diseases affecting our community today, including cancer, neurodegenerative and mental diseases, disorders of the immune system, diabetes and obesity, osteoporosis and other skeletal disorders. It aimed to discover the nature and causes, to improve methods of preventing, diagnosing and treating those diseases and other afflictions, to provide such services in the field of human medicine, to provided and aid in the provision of educational programmes relating the matters the subject of research conducted by the Garvan and to disseminate, within and outside the State, information concerning the work of Garvan.
