Description of charity’s activities and outcomes
The Puuya Foundation's purpose is to empower Indigenous Australians and build relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people to close the g ap. We are a backbone organisation creating social and economic capital - transforming disadvantage to advantage. Lockhart River Aboriginal Community is one of the most disadvantaged communities in Australia (SEIFA Indexes - ABS), with poverty, unemployment, drugs and alcohol, domestic violence and chronic illness. The Puuya Foundation leads, guides and supports the Lockhart River community to create its best sustainable future using successful, innovative community building strategies. The community are the beneficiaries of our work.
