Description of charity’s activities and outcomes
Funds raised and directed to IJMs anti-trafficking programs (including the commercial and online sexual exploitation of children) supported: social workers providing ongoing aftercare and restoration services for the victims of violent crime in Cebu, the Philippines; the training of government aftercare services providing aftercare and restoration services to child victims of abuse and exploitation in Cebu, the Philippines; access to legal representation so that clients are supported to effectively seek justice for crimes committed against them through their local criminal justice system in the Philippines; the establishment and support, together with national authorities of a national anti-trafficking unit to investigate and manage the victims in Cebu, the Philippines; and the training and support of local and national authorities, legal practitioners and law enforcement to increase the rule of law and protect local communities, particularly the poor and vulnerable, from violence. IJM Australia actively conducted speaking engagements in various forums including conferences, churches and civic engagements as well as connecting with government to contribute to raising the profile of, and Australias contribution to, addressing these issues.IJM Australia also carried out a Trial Advocacy Training Program in Kampala, Uganda, to strengthen the professional skills of Public Prosecutors managing land grabbing cases in the region.
