Provide further details of the charity's international activities
Action on Poverty is an international development
organisation working across Africa, Asia, and the Pacific.
For 50 years we have been helping poor and vulnerable
communities to lift themselves out of poverty. From helping
Timorese families to grow their own nutritious foods, to
helping disadvantaged women in Cambodia learn business
skills – we target people with their own vision for change, and
help them make a difference that lasts.

We are a secular, independent non-government organisation
(NGO) that takes a rights-based approach to poverty
reduction. This means that we work to address the root
causes of poverty and not just its effects. We do this by
helping poor communities access the opportunities they
deserve, such as training and finance, to transform their lives.
We also strive to ensure the benefits of development are
shared equally, especially among marginalised groups such
as women, people with disabilities, and ethnic minorities.
Description of charity's activities and outcomes
Strong support translates to strong impact – this year, we reached
304,820 people in 14 countries with our life-changing projects.

In Africa, we improved access to health facilities, helped farmers
increase their productivity and nutrition, ensured girls can stay in
school, and boosted incomes by over $200 per year.

In Asia, our partnership with the World Mosquito Program saw
57,900 Vietnamese protected from debilitating and costly diseases
such as dengue. We also established tourism enterprises in six
new communities, provided micro-finance solutions targeting
women, supported community preschools, and offered literacy
training and business support for marginalised women.

In the Pacific, we empowered women who have survived gender based violence to start micro-enterprises; taught literacy and life skills to prisoners; and improved food security, nutrition, access to clean water, and governance among rural communities.
