Description of charity’s activities and outcomes
Parkinson's Australia pursued its charitable purposes in the last financial year through the following activities:Adopted an Educational Resource Management Policy which will ensure efficiency and standardisation of education resources.Commenced a detailed Strategic Planning Review which culminated with the adoption of an updated strategic plan and a detailed business plan. This process, with its associated goal setting, will improve future performance.Undertook a National Branding and Identity Project which has culminated in new branding being used by Parkinsons Australia and all states and have made substantial progress towards a new website.Continuation of a project which commenced in June 2013 to design a program for training of staff in nursing homes and other institutions on the special needs of Parkinsons patients. There has been a major focus on this program this year with initial design and testing being carried out under the management of Parkinsons South Australia.A national approach was planned for World Parkinsons Day in 2014 and a decision made to make September Parkinsons Awareness Month.Corporate Governance has been improved with the development of a Board Induction Kit and the development of written governance policy statements.We have re-registered the Friends of Parkinsons in the Federal Parliament following the last election and had successful meetings with the Chair and Co-Chair which resulted in a successful function at Parliament Ho
