Description of charity's activities and outcomes
The main form of support that Gifts for Manus and Nauru provide is in the form of mobile phone credit.Access to communication (phone and internet) is extremely limited in the camps, and use is monitored. Gifts for Manus and Nauru aims to provide enough phone credit to allow a very basic level of access to communication for a month at a time, so that people at Manus and Nauru may be able to send forms and documents (eg. Medical consent and legal consent forms) when needed and have a minimum level of communication with family and other supports.We also provide material support in the form of parcels of necessary items such as clothing, shoes, educational/entertainment devices, toys, baby items, food etc.Gifts for Manus and Nauru also has a trauma counselling services called Therapy4Refugees, which provides counselling via voice or text communication on the person's preferred phone app.
