Description of charity's activities and outcomes
Bayley House has been providing specialist services and programs for people with an intellectual disability since 1951. We currently support over 210 individuals with more than 180 accessing the programs offered by our Day Service and 42 living in one of our seven residential properties. In the vicinity of 60 people and their families use our facility based respite service each year. Our strategic priorities are:Stronger and sustainable Day ProgramsSave and secure accommodation and respite servicesDelivering sessional community based servicesProvision of empowered learning and education activitiesBayley House delivers services from many sites within the Bayside community in Melbourne, Victoria. Our clients are central to all we do and programs are reflective of client interest, skill level and goals. Bayley House is based in Brighton and with satellite sites, including a vocational facility, located in surrounding suburbs. We regularly partner with local community organisations, schools and businesses in the Bayside area to deliver programs and activities that are community based, offer flexibility and are responsive to the needs of the individuals we support. By participating in our programs clients learn new skills and gain greater independence, improved confidence and higher levels of self-determination. Employing over 130 people, our instructors, support workers and other staff are well qualified, highly committed and support our clients in a positive and meaningful way. Many have years of experience in the sector. All are committed to assisting our clients to maximise their opportunities so they can develop their skills, achieve their goals and live the life they choose in an inclusive community.The support offered to Bayley House by donors and volunteers enables us to offer a range of innovative and highly valued activities, purchase necessary equipment and provide a physical environment that is modern, safe and engaging.
