Description of charity's activities and outcomes
AGEC's purpose is to achieve gender equality in Australia by driving a cultural shift so that men and women have the same rights and opportunities across all sectors of the community and economy. In 2018 we have done this by (1) acting as an authoritative and independent voice for gender equality in Australia (2) advocating for and raising awareness of gender equality through AGEC's Its Time National advertising campaign, and social media and media and other stakeholder engagement activities, including our 2018 Member Forum and Member presentations.
(3) Developing research driven policy in the area of gender equality. In 2018 this was primarily through our Hands Up for Gender Equality Study and Report undertaken by the University of Queensland. (4) Raising awareness of the impact upon gender equality of policy and legislation, including in 2018 media commentary on the legislation impacting award rates in female dominated industries and commentary on policy changes impacting women, and participation in the Deputy Prime Minister's Roundtable on increasing the numbers of Women in Aviation.
