Description of charity's activities and outcomes:
In 2017 Contacts vision continues to be that isolated children, families and communities irrespective of their locality and circumstances have access to education, supports, information and services to best meet their needs. Working primarily rural and remote communities Contacts utilises its extensive networks, experience and established strategies to designs and creative solutions that are responsive to locally identified needs and advocate on behalf isolated children, families and community requirements Contacts services and programs are constantly evolving and changing in direct response to community needs as well as the funding that is available. Key programs delivered during this year have included: delivery of Contact Childrens Mobile based in Alice Springs, servicing the Utopia Homelands and funded by Prime Minister and Cabinet; Mobile Childrens Services Association (MCSA) actions funded through the Association as well as delivering MCSA Mobile Meet(Conference) for Mobile Childrens Services in NSW and Nationally; delivering T.E.A. M Together Everyone Achieves More: a fee for service customised professional development program option targeting various rural and remote childrens services and programs ;developing funding proposals targeting Aboriginal teenage parents in the Northern Territory; and working with a range of rural and remote agencies to define ways to sustain child and family services into the future. Organisationally key actions have included presenting funding applications and submissions; continuing redevelopment of Contact website, exploration of partnership opportunities to enhance our role in the community and structurally working with the Board to review, define and improve our governance structures and approaches. The Board has sustained a consistent focus upon the organisations governance responsibilities and their commitment, continuing supports and valued efforts are deeply respected. Throughout Contacts history changing child, family and community needs and funding has required redefinition of organisational programs . Our strength has been that organisation have remained true to its charter and Contact continues to work towards building our future and strategic priorities and the directions.
