Description of charity's activities and outcomes
CCCM has been the focal point for food support in Melton since 1995. With over 110,000 kg of fresh, frozen and packaged food collected by CCCM volunteers and stored at our premises, we have been able to support over 13,000 Melton Council residents/homeless in 2016.We receive referrals from Council, Centrelink, counselors, hospitals, concerned family and neighbours etc to gain support for people that would unfortunately go without food due to many unforeseen circumstances. To ensure that our clients are able to move on economically and socially, we teach budgeting to over 700 of our clients per year and run a COACH mentoring program for those struggling to learn these basic life skills. The programs have had some impressive results as clients become more independent and enjoy a certain amount of financial freedom. Our programs have been regarded as "gold" by local agencies and are heavily referred onto.
