Description of charity's activities and outcomes
The Sydney Buddhist Centre pursues its aims through two venues: Sydney Buddhist Centre and Vijayaloka Retreat Centre. At the SBC the charity conducts classes and courses in meditation and study of Buddhism. Classes include free drop-in classes for newcomers to meditation as well as regular meditation and discussion groups on a donation basis. Structured courses are both at introductory and further-experienced levels, and have a fee charged at full and concession prices. Some of these activities are provided for trainees progressing toward ordination. At Vijayaloka Retreat Centre, the charitable association runs retreats over periods from weekends to three weeks in length, devoted to learning and practice in both meditation and Buddhism, as well as retreats for ordination trainees.
