Description of the charities activities and outcomes
Main objective has been to provide wildlife rehabilitation to over 3000 injured native animals each year from Western Australia. These services are provided by about 350 volunteers who work three shifts a day, seven days a week. Facilities at Kanyana’s Lesmurdie location include a well-appointed hospital, a quarantine centre and extensive, high-grade enclosures. Volunteers are trained to handle wildlife treatments for animals involving road accidents, dog and cat attacks, Bobtail flus, oil spills and bush fire accidents.
Kanyana provides Education programs for organisations and the general public.
Kanyana also participates in Captive Breeding of Threatened and Critically Endangered Species such as Bilbies, Western-Barred Bandicoots and Woylies for release into sites selected by the Dept of Parks and Wildlife.
