Description of charity's activities and outcomes
At Conviction Group, we believe good personal health stems from a person having positive mental health. To improve mental health, we need to focus on all issues contributing to a young persons mental health. This includes addressing key issues such as: Violence, Bullying; Leadership; Resilience; Body Image; Social Media and Peer Pressure. Conviction Group has three main programs: 1) The Young Mens Health Forum - The forum utilises expert speakers to inform, engage and influence students on pivotal issues concerning young mens health. These issues include mental health, body image, healthy relationships, violence, resilience and leadership. This one day event for year 10 male students is held in multiple locations throughout the year. Following each speaker, small group sessions will be used to reinforce key principles, stimulate discussion between students and provide students with the practical tools to deal with these issues. Students will be individually assigned to a group at the forum, and each group will consist of students from different schools led by a Conviction Group Facilitator. Each facilitator possesses leadership experience and has demonstrated a high standard of integrity within their respective community, workplace or university. 2) The Boys Mentoring Programs - A structured program developed with assistance from teachers, and most importantly, by recent students who have experienced what these current students are about to embark on as they enter a new stage of their lives. The program addresses personal development, health and social issues young men will experience. We challenge young men to become better individuals in all facets of life and Promote individual responsibility for personal decisions. 3) School Presentation Workshops - The Conviction Group Presentations & Workshops were developed to offer, quality evidence based education with a relatable approach. The presentations have been tailored to cover the PDHPE life skills curriculum and the latest wellbeing structures set by the Department of Education. The Presentations & Workshops are aimed to balance cognitive, social, emotional and physical development of the students. They provide students with the opportunity to learn about, and discuss ways of adopting and maintaining a healthy, productive and active way of life.
