Description of charity's activities and outcomes
-We have held many community events to encourage people to talk about dying, death and grieving. Some of these events include guest speakers covering topics such as funeral care planning, which coincided with 'Dying to Know Day'. We also had a two day event to celebrate 'Dia de los Muertos' ('Day of the Dead') which brought many community members into our hub to talk about loved ones who had died.
-We have personally assisted people in writing their Advance Care Plans, as well as having a practical workshop for community members during Advance Care Planning Week in April.
-We have been able to link many families with already-existing services such as My Aged Care as well as podiatry, massage therapy and financial assistance through Centrelink.
-We have conducted many free volunteer training workshops based on the 'Compassionate Community' model, as well as upskilling workshops for our volunteers such as hand and foot massage. Our volunteers provided 971 hours of work for the organisation during the year.
-We have been involved in many guest speaking roles for local organisations and clubs around the state, including Maryborough Lions. We also participated in the Ballarat Cemeteries and regional palliative care event 'Living Today, Dying Tomorrow' as well as talking on local radio station VoiceFM.
