    • SWD uses sailing as a medium to build optimism among disabled and disadvantaged people
Description of charity's activities and outcomes
Through sailing we act as a catalyst for change, offering opportunities to people with disabilities and those at a disadvantage with the aim of driving a more optimistic outlook and providing an opportunity for personal growth and improved life outcomes. SWD's programs are inclusive, supporting and challenging. The focus is on working as a team to find solutions to problems. regular participation and connection with our mentors raises self-esteem and self-confidence and improves life skills. SWD relies on trained volunteers to run its programs. through participation volunteers raise their life satisfaction and well being while learning new skills and giving back to society. Up to 3000 young people, including over 100 in wheelchairs participate in our programs supported by over 160 volunteers giving around 4000 hours to on water programs
