Description of charity’s activities and outcomes:
The 2014/15 period has been the busiest era for the Beard Season movement by far. Our biggest event (at Somerset House in London) attracted over 35,000 visitors, we gained over $2.5 million worth of earned media, boosted our social media following to well over 60,000 and encouraged thousands of people all around the world to get a skin check for melanoma. We received scores of messages from people who had found an early stage melanoma because of our friendly advice - which could well have saved their lives. A hashtag on Instagram has been set up to document these victories. We visited regional schools and nursing clinics, shared our story with some of the most influential business and policy leaders in the country, and initiated skin checks as part of major outdoor sporting events such as the Hamilton Island Race Week. We have gained strong momentum for awareness and action in the fight against melanoma, and look forward to continuing our progress for many years to come.
