Description of charity's activities and outcomes
The Foundation serves the interests and needs of people with Hereditary Spastic Paraplegias (HSPs) by:
facilitating and funding research to find an effective treatment for the HSPs and
as the hub of the HSP community, creating awareness and providing support, information and education.

Over $300,000 of Foundation funding has been invested in pre-clinical investigations in 2017/18. The investigations include a dose modelling study and four biomarker studies, all of which are prerequisite to initiating a clinical drug trial to test the effectiveness of a potential treatment for HSP
The Foundation provides very significant resources to the leadership, management and administration of the HSP research program, ranging from organising, planning, funding, logistics and personnel through to support for the development of technical documentation for clinicians, researchers, grant makers, regulators, suppliers and peer collaborators
The Foundation attracted giving in 2017/18 of just over $1 million due to fundraising and other efforts that have established a reputation for reliability, trust, effectiveness and progress that has resulted in an HSP community favourably inclined to contribute
The Foundation employs multiple communications media – website, email, phone calls and social media to continuously provide support, information and education to people with HSP that is best-in-class globally, thus helping develop and maintain an HSP community favourably inclined to the Foundation, its activities and services
