Playground Ideas supports communities all over the world to create play spaces using local, low cost and recycled materials for children. Our free online resources are available for anyone, anywhere to use and we partner with local organisations around the globe to build creative, stimulating play spaces and promote the importance of play for children's development and long term wellbeing.
Description of charity's activities and outcomes:
Playground Ideas' vision is to give anyone, anywhere the skills to create time and space for children to play. In the 2016/17 financial year, we worked towards this purpose through supporting the creation of approximately 492 playgrounds in 143 countries. In May, we launched our new website with improved user functionality and newfeatures including a crowdfunding platform for users. Since the launch of the new website, we estimate that there have been 55 projects added to the site each month (up from 35 per month the previous year). We added two new manuals, as well as an online drag and drop design tool, updated existing manuals and translated our play infographic into 23 different languages! And in addition to the support of our online community, we embarked on a huge project in India, partnering with local organisations to create 50 playgrounds across the country, and worked with a Vietnamese partner organisation to turn a city block into a play space in Danang. We also added four new partners to our Global Play Alliance.
