Description of charity’s activities and outcomes
The mission of the Children's Cancer Foundation is to enable children with cancer to have access to the worlds best treatment and support, and to build awareness of childhood cancer and its impacts. The Childrens Cancer Foundation achieves its mission by: supporting families through treatment;partnering with hospitals to deliver clinical excellence; andbuilding world-class paediatric cancer clinical research. In 2014/15 the Foundation supported families through the stress of cancer treatment by providing in hospital programs via KOALA Kids, by funding the salaries of Family Resource Coordinators, and by providing therapeutic storybooks to assist children with adapting to treatment. The Foundation also funded The Beaded Journey, a therapeutic program which marks each treatment milestone with a special bead and assists families to cope with their cancer experience and relate their experience visually.The Foundation has committed $6.2 million to a long-term clinical research program aimed at developing new and kinder treatments and to harness the genomic and molecular revolution by developing personalised care. This research has resulted in a steadily increasing research team, advances towards new treatments and impacted positively on the treatment pathway of children with cancer.The Foundation continued its funding of clinical trial staffing with the aim of increasing patient enrolments on clinical trials to 75% of patients under treatment.
