In Malaysia, CMaD again provided funds to the Home of Peace project, which is involved in the long-term care of disadvantaged girls until they are mature and independent.
The Home has been a haven of safety, health and care for eighteen girls over the past 19 years, with the eldest now working and living independently.
In India, a grant last year from CMaD of $15,000 was used to support work in Rajasthan to increase the provision of water, and maximize water use efficiency in five villages, benefiting 5,320 people through access to safe and sustainable water for drinking, crops, and essential animals. Also in India, CMAD provided funds to suport the Ayries Society in its work providing nutritional supplements to people suffering from TB, HIV and AIDS.
In Thailand, we again funded the Karen Hill Tribes project that provides meals for 300 students living in dormitories in a remote region.
In Nepal, we provided funds for the sponsorship of children from the village of Bhujel to attend
Description of charity's activities and outcomes
Meal-a-Day works to relieve hunger, disadvantage, disability and homelessness in some of Asia-Pacific'spoorest communities through sustainable projects that provide fresh water, nutrition, shelter, education, and healthcare. Funding projects through our on-the-ground partners, we have continued to meet this purpose in 2016-17 by supporting: disadvantaged girls in Malaysia;financially insecure farmers and their families and communities in India;those suffering from TB, HIV and AIDS in India; anddisadvantaged students in Thailand.
