Description of charity's activities and outcomes:
Spur Projects produce a wide range of innovative and demographic specific, mental health projects that give men the resources, skills and language they need in order to take action for their mental health. Our main activities during the 2016 financial year were as follows:How is the World Feeling?"How is the World Feeling?, an app for smart devices, was the worlds largest ever real-time mental health survey. 10,144 people from 104 countries logged how they were feeling over seven days, creating the an open-source database of emotions with over 57,000 submissions. The data collected by the free app allows any individual, organisation or government to create more effective mental health initiatives to improve wellness and reduce the 800,000 suicides that occur globally. "How is the World Feeling?" was built using the same robust framework as Spur Project's 2014 "How is Australia Feeling? campaign. It will return in 2018.Get Silent. Get Heard."Get Silent. Get Heard. is a national challenge to go silent for 24, 48 or 72 hours - all to raise awareness and funds for mens mental health and suicide prevention.F.U.N.On a set date at a set time, people gather in a range of venues across the world to have a drink and a chat. Its almost a standard night out. Almost. There are two rules to F.U.N.:1) You must meet at least one new person. 2) You must share at least one failure in your life. We live in a competitive society where weaknesses, mistakes or failures are covered up, glossed over or ignored, rather than enjoyed for the glorious learning opportunity that they should be. F.U.N. is an opportunity to celebrate and own the failures we make in life and is an importance exercise in vulnerability. Its being OK with vulnerability that is a core competency in people taking action for their mental health. So although F.U.N. is, on the surface, just a fun night out, it is subversive mental health training.
