Description of charity's activities and outcomes:
Cat Protection operates a no-kill shelter for homeless cats, providing them with all necessary vet care including desexing and finds permanent homes for them. In 2016-17 we found loving homes for 902 cats and kittens, as well as reunited five lost cats (and one lost rabbit) with their owners. We also provide discounted and free F3 vaccination and cat desexing for cat owners on low incomes, in the period assisting 2,207 cat desexings and 880 F3 vaccinations. We provided 52 nights of crisis cat care and lifetime registered 860 cats. We assisted more than 5,000 clients with cat care information, and launched The Good Neighbour Project which promotes the welfare and wellbeing of cats, the protection of local fauna and community amenity. We created and made freely available a CPD-points accredited training package for veterinarians on early-age desexing and supported research at the University of Sydney into feline infectious diseases. The CEO served on the NSW Government's Responsible Pet Ownership Reference Group.
