Description of charity’s activities and outcomes
VCS Ltd. delivers on its charitable purposes through three service entities, namely:VCS Pathology supports the cervical screening program: providing a high quality and efficient screening service for Victorian women at risk of cervical cancer. In 2014/15 VCS Pathology reported 302,366 Pap tests, representing 50.22% of the Pap smears taken in Victoria. VCS Pathology also commenced the Compass Main Trial which is a clinical trial of up to 121,000 women, comparing 2.5-yearly Pap test screening with 5- yearly Human Papillomavirus (HPV) screening. It is the first large scale clinical trial internationally to assess these screening tests in an HPV vaccinated population and is being carried out by VCS in collaboration with Cancer Council NSW.In addition, VCS Pathology provides free educational sessions for medical and health professionals to improve skills and knowledge about cervical screening, HPV and Chlamydia to General Practioners, Registrars and Nurses. Victorian Cervical Cytology Registry (VCCR) is a key component of the cervical screening program, recording results of most Pap smears performed in Victoria. The register contains a linked record for each woman, detailing Pap smear results and subsequent investigations. In 2014/15, 590,384 Pap test results were added, enabling a comprehensive reminder and follow-up service to be provided. VCCR provides a history link for laboratories and produces statistical information and reports on cervical screening. National HPV
