Other: The Western Research Institute (WRI) was established for the purpose of providing research that promotes the development of Australia's rural and regional communities and economies. In its 15 years WRI has provided a wealth of evidence that has contributed to the economic development of regional Australia.

Description of charity’s activities and outcomes
In 2013 WRI completed 37 research projects which have contributed to or promoted the economic and social development of regional and rural Australia. Significant projects have including contributing to development of regional plans and policy in the Orana region, informing local and state government of the economic significance of large employing local manufacturing plants, providing evidence for local government on special rates variation applications, evaluating the services provided by a regional Theatre, conducting assessments of road infrastructure and mining accommodation developments and livestock market upgrades. Furthermore WRI completed range of projects provided at cost or on a pro-bono basis including, economic impact assessments for a disability and aged care provider, providing presentations and commentary on economic policy and its impact on regional Australia, especially Central West NSW.
