Description of charity's activities and outcomes:
The focus of ECHO Inc is essentially to assist persons in Victoria who through misfortune cannot help themselves and have missed out from the welfare system. To undertake such a task in a small way requires funds. ECHO has assisted other charities in intersection tin shake collections building up expertise and knowledge in the field. The outcome of this program is that scarce funds are collected and distributed to much needed causes; the collectors themselves feel a net worth and self esteem in not only raising funds but also earning income rather than being on welfare.During the past year the money raised by ECHO which was not forwarded to partner charity organisations was used to purchase or trade in medical aids such as electric wheelchairs, walkers and shower aids. These are products for which there are extended waiting lists from different levels of Government. We were able to source and place two electric wheel chairs which were provided to housebound clients.Another activity we have has been the receipt of donated goods for distribution to those less fortunate. We have an active blanket program in the Winter and we provide some food relief to those in need who are drawn to our attention. A number of our collectors have not had the benefit of education and in this fast tech world are left behind. We are assisting some of these people to access programs which they are entitled to through local Library computers .There is much more to be done and if we can expand our fundraising then we shall be able to do more in the future
