Description of charity's activities and outcomes
WIRES, NSW Wildlife Information Rescue and Education Service Inc. have been actively assisting wildlife and thecommunity for 30 years.In the last financial year WIRES recorded over 77,000 rescue requests for advice and assistance, helping tens ofthousands of sick, injured and orphaned native animals.We supported and worked closely with 2,500 volunteers across 27 branches, helping native animals, providing localcommunity wildlife information and we spent $227,805 on food for wildlife in care.WIRES delivered 39 Rescue and Immediate Care Courses, training 605 people. We also delivered 41 advanced speciescourses, training 735 people.The vast majority of WIRES funding comes from the general community and it's essential for WIRES to continuouslyfundraise to support all our services, including: WIRES Rescue Office which operates 365 days a year and maintaining/upgrading systems to improve our impact for wildlife e.g. WIRES rescue communications system enables us to contactinstantly all available, trained volunteers willing and able to rescue specific animals in set locations, resulting in fasterrescues for native animals.All funds raised locally by branches are used in the local community to support local volunteers and local wildlife.
