Description of charity’s activities and outcomes
P & C MOOCOOBOOLA REPORT 2014As President of Hunters Hill High School Parents & Citizens Association Im pleased to acknowledge some of the wonderful contributions made by parents and carers to Hunters Hill High School in 2014. Our project of upgrading the outdoor multi-purpose sports courts by the river was completed in 2014. The P & C was grateful to receive a $20,000 2013 Community Building Partnership Grant from the NSW Government towards this project with the P & C contributing further funds towards the upgrade. The state of the art basketball, netball, tennis and volley ball courts are extensively used by our students, as well as community users on weekends.The P & C was also pleased to receive a 2014 Community Building Partnership Grant of $6,300 towards upgrading the numeracy centre. These funds will be directed towards purchasing a data projector and interlocking tables. The P & C would like to thank Mr Anthony Roberts MP for his assistance in securing these grants.Further funds contributed by the P & C in 2014 include:Music department - keyboards, glockenspiels, music software for composing, guitars, microphones, sound system and amp. English department - textbooks and data projectors Science department - data logging equipment and textbooks for senior science. Mathematics Department - $8,000 for Quicksmart, an intervention program for middle school students and; funds for storage cupboards in the first aid room in the Phil Daniels Pavilion.The P & C also has a number of regular commitments it gives to various programs during the school year including student welfare, Achievers camp, the Year 12 Yearbook, garden maintenance and acquisition of a major year 12 artwork for on-going exhibition in the schools Hedley Art Gallery.HHHS P & C continues to provide excellent extra-curricular creative and performing arts opportunities for our students. The talented Hunters Hill High School Concert Band won a silver award at the prestigious University of NSW Schools Band Competition, had a highly successful band tour of the Port Stephens area and performed at all major school events. The 3 dance groups, being the jazz troupe, contemporary troupe and Hip Hop Troupe, performed at Eisteddfords and all major school events. The jazz troupe also had the wonderful experience of being selected to perform at the Ryde School Spectacular at the Opera House!The hardworking P & C Events Committee organised a highly successful Comedy Dinner Dance (which raised over $18,000), BBQs at Bunnings, the P & C Welcome Drinks, the Variety Night BBQ and the annual Christmas Drinks by the River.Throughout 2014 the P & C participated in several staff selection panels, ran eight volunteer gardening working bees in the school grounds, and assisted at Open Day and Year 7 Orientation Day.HHHS P & C continues to run two businesses, being our school canteen which serves nutritious, freshly prepared food at affordable prices, and
