Description of charity’s activities and outcomes
Since 1989, the Womens and Childrens Hospital Foundation has worked to ensure that South Australian women, babies and children receive the best possible health care. The official charity for the Womens and Childrens Hospital (WCH), we focus on helping the hospital to provide world-class care, facilities and services for the 250,000 patients treated there each year. As the states only dedicated hospital for children, there are few families in SA whose lives have not been touched by the WCH. Around 50 children are admitted every day and almost 5,000 babies are born there annually.Working closely with the hospital, the Foundation identifies priority areas of need. We fund the latest medical equipment, projects to create a positive, more home-like environment, and breakthrough research to find better treatments and cures. The Foundation also supports the WCH Home Equipment Centre which provides loan equipment to help families care for their seriously ill children at home.Through the generosity of donors, corporate partners and the community, we have granted more than $28 million to the hospital since 2005.With the support of the community, the WCH Foundation aims to transform competent care into extraordinary care for South Australian women, babies and children when they need it most.
