Description of charity’s activities and outcomes
Through the provision of key awards and prizes for scientists at various stages of their career, in concert with special events to recognise and encourage young people with high potential for a career in STEM-related careers, raising the profile, prestige and impact of the sciences in the state of Victoria. Through providing an annual series of public lectures on themes ranging across the disciplines, keeping the general public informed and engaged on the latest developments in science and communicating the vital importance of scientific process as a vital provider of objective reasoning in determining projects, policies and programs for the benefit of society. Through publication of an open access peer-reviewed journal featuring the work of Victorian science and scientists, raising the profile and impact of research in Australia on the global stage. Through conducting key outreach activities in Victorian primary and secondary schools, supporting the development of effective science educators and extending the capacities of students to engage with science curriculum and technology learning. Through maintaining a significant heritage site within Melbourne's "Golden Mile," protecting and enhancing the status of Victoria's rich colonial and innovation legacy.
