Description of charity’s activities and outcomes
During 2015, WCS established Great Lakes Women's Shelter and The Sanctuary, The Hills Women's Shelter, two crisis accommodation facilities for women and children, and engaged with other communities throughout NSW, interested in Shelter establishment, with a view to establishing up to 8 more shelters in the next 5-6 years. We have participated in raising the profile of issues to do with women's homelessness by working with peak organisations, State, Federal and Local Government and the media. We have undertaken extensive capacity building with communities to address and deal with issues of women's homelessness and domestic violence at the local community level.
