Description of charity's activities and outcomes:
St Tom's Hope launched in 2017. Our vision is to see people transformed by hope and to inspire our community to get involved in practical compassionate service. Our first campaign was to run a food drive. Utilising church members as our volunteer base, we distributed 2000 Hope grocery bags to our local neighbourhood. In the bag was a leaflet that requested the donations of particular food items. A week later, our volunteers went and collected the donated food. The food was then distributed to local community service organisations to stock their food banks for people in need. With the help of the community, we raised $22,808 worth of groceries! Each year we aim to expand our food drive to encompass more of our city. Going forward we will be providing mentors to a local school through the Kids' Hope program. Additionally will be investing in the community by providing Mentors for struggling families. We are now also providing low fee English Classes for people in the community whose primary language is not English. This program provides community, friendship and hope in communication for those who feel isolated.
