Description of the charities activities and outcomes:
Soil Science Australia's mission is to promote the importance of soil in the Australian environment, build a strong and collaborative soil science community, influence policy development, as well as advance the professional capability of our members. Due to COVID-19, associated lockdowns and travel restrictions, 2020 presented unique challenges to Soil Science Australia. SSA's strategic plan addresses four pillars of advocacy, accreditation, education and community. The Society addressed these by presenting numerous online webinars and a Basic Soils Refresher training course. Further, SSA in consultation with the National Soils Advocate and Soils For Life also contributed to the Parliamentary Friends of Soil Group. The Society also engaged an independent consultant to take its Soils in Schools program national.
