Summary of activities

The Grace Gawler Institutes activities are directed towards cancer patients who have fallen through the “support” gap. During the reporting period we achieved this is by providing patient advocacy services, life skills, emotional and psychological support combined with upskilling patients and their families via cancer education and encouraging better communication with their health professionals. The Institute’s work became more complex in 2020 due to the Covid 19 pandemic. In the first six months of 2020 we received a high level of enquiry for free advisory services which we were able to accommodate. As well, we executed our in-house research with the aim of determining the effectiveness of our Cancer survivorship programs which aim to help patients and families to more effectively navigate the complex cancer maze. We provide an Australia wide service.
