Summary of activities

Whitsunday Counselling and Support Service has provided counselling and support to people and families who have experienced family violence, sexual assault or have been at risk of neglect or abuse. Staff have attended Court weekly in both Bowen and Proserpine to provide support to individuals who are attending matters in the Domestic Violence Court. We have provided emergency accommodation for women and children escaping domestic violence, and emergency relief to people in need eg; food, travel vouchers, clothing, etc. Additionally, we have conducted community education and awareness projects throughout the year. As an organisation, we also collaborate with other organisations such as QPS, DV connect, Child Services and schools. Our services cover the entire Whitsunday Region, which is an area of @ 23500 sqkm. We provide our services at our two main offices in Cannonvale and Bowen as well as outreach services to Proserpine, Collinsville and Hamilton Island.
