Summary of activities

In the years 2017 /18 The Studio saw significant growth and the achievement of a number of ambitious goals. The most significant was the opening of The Studio Incubator space and the commencement of The Studio's operations in the prestigious Sydney Startup Hub. The Studio Incubator comprises 1,107 sq m, with capacity for 140 desks, hi-speed ethernet at each desk, wi-fi throughout with fibre optic cable linking key spaces. Meeting rooms, a large lounge area and kitchen/dining spaces, also function as multiple event spaces. Broadcast standard studios with high quality equipment, include a green screen studio, a sound studio and a VR Lab. Inclusion of studios creates a unique environment and provides important tools for development, marketing or content creation. In a practical way, The Studio provides work spaces and media facilities but most importantly a community from which we can meaningfully support the talents and aspirations of startups and scaleups and the expertise needed to make them succeed. The Studio has held more than 100 events internal and external, with international and local speakers and experts. Additionally was a host for TEdX Sydney and held five mediatech events for Spark Festival, including a Women in STEAM and Women's networking event and establishing a "Great Debate", with a Mediatech VS Fintech. We've also established The Studio Women's Network, holding regular monthly coffee networking events and in 2019 this will expand to include evening events. The Studio welcomed its first Expert-in-Residence David McKeague, an entrepreneur with several mediatech exits under his belt. David is available every week for one-on-one consultations with Studio residents. The Studio is a founding member of The Sydney Culture Network, a not-for-profit organisation connecting Sydney's large and small cultural institutions, with a remit to implement collective strategies to connect Sydney's cultural offer, grow audience participation, and encourage greater engagement across the cultural life of the city.
