3 December 2012
To all those charities who have been automatically registered with the ACNC, a very warm welcome. We've provided this summary of the key things to be aware of to help make the transition as smooth as possible. If you have any questions or concerns please don't hesitate to contact us on 13 ACNC (13 22 62).
1. What it means to be automatically registered
In most cases if your organisation is a charity that received charity tax concessions from the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) before 3 December 2012, it is automatically registered with the ACNC. This means you don't need to re-register.
2. Understanding ongoing obligations
Under the Manage my Charity section of this website, you can find out about the obligations you have as a registered charity. We will be updating this section with guidance and education materials to support and help you manage your obligations.
3. Timeline of key events
We have prepared a timeline of key events to help you understand the impact of the ACNC on your charity. The timeline also explains what preparations you need to start making in order to meet your obligations under the ACNC Act.
4. Top tasks for managing your charity's registration
We have put together a list of top tasks for managing your charity's registration with the ACNC in one location. This includes notifying us of changes to details or rules, opting out of registration and requesting a change to the way you want to report to us.
If you need to update your details, or make another application or request, you will need to use an approved form. You can find these under the Publications tab for download as a PDF. If you need any assistance filling in any of these forms please contact us. We're also working to upgrade many of these to being online forms during 2013.
6. Contacting us
If you have any questions please get in touch. You can find all our contact details under the Contact Us tab. You can call us on 13 ACNC (13 22 62) weekdays from 8.00am - 8.00pm AEDST.
