Summary of activities

Beacon Foundation delivers career awareness and work readiness programs that bring business, industry and schools together. We focus on operating in low ICSEA schools (Index of Community Socio-Educational Advantage) and low socio economic communities where young people are more likely to be disengaged in school, and experience high levels of unemployment or underemployment. We support young people through direct service delivery in a number of ways: • In-person collaborative programs to build career exposure, work readiness and job skills in young people • Online mentoring programs that deliver work exposure and career awareness using the power of technology. This lets remote, regional and rural schools and communities access work readiness programs, where otherwise these offerings can be unavailable • Place-based projects, like the Collective ed. initiative, which take an intensive systems change approach to addressing issues of educational disadvantage.
