Summary of activities

Encounter Youth (EY) was established to provide preventative and assistive services to reduce illicit alcohol and other drug use and dependency amongst young people. These services are predominately provided in South Australia with a strong focus in the Southern Adelaide region and key night spots in Adelaide CBD. EY's reputation has seen demand for our unique blend of services in other States of Australia. EY supports young people to make a difference in the world. We fulfil our mandate by providing direct relief to young people facing serious social challenges. The key is EY targets young people in desperate need of rescuing from the harm to self and others because of substance abuse and risks associated with abusive, violent or criminal behaviours. As a result, EY alleviates suffering and harm, to individuals, families and the community. EY achieve this by working collaboratively with the community and providing effective programs that provide knowledge and influence behaviour. EY also provide specialised alcohol and other drug education to primary, secondary school students, teachers and community groups. These activities directly benefit the local and state communities, state government agencies, charity and community organisations. The activities of EY advance community and social development and welfare in local areas and the overall state of South Australia. We are motivated by our Christian faith and mobilise passionate volunteers from South Australian Christian communities to implement our highly successful activities and programs. Through EY's professional management of volunteers we have a large trained resource of volunteers who are relevant, engaged and practically involved, and as a result support young people to make a difference in the world.
