Summary of activities

Musica Viva presented 2,504 concerts, workshops and residencies, featuring 300 musicians to a combined audience of 361,700 in 2017. These performances were delivered in concert halls, school halls, regional venues and tertiary institutions and to people of all ages. In all of its activities, Musica Viva seeks to make a valuable and lasting contribution to the Australian cultural landscape, both present and future. Almost 276,000 children experienced an enriched education by participating in the Musica Viva In Schools program, and many of Australia's most talented young musicians had the opportunity to participate in masterclasses presented by visiting international ensembles. Our work with emerging musicians continued with the delivery of the FutureMakers program and working towards the presentation of the Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition in 2018.
