Summary of activities
Lung Foundation Australia is the only charity and leading peak body of its kind in Australia that funds life-changing research and delivers support services that give hope to those affected by a lung disease.
Since 1990, we have been working to ensure lung health is a priority for all by promoting lung health and early diagnosis, advocating for policy change and research investment, raising awareness about the symptoms and prevalence of lung disease and championing equitable access to treatment and care.
To achieve its stated objectives, Lung Foundation Australia has adopted the following strategic objectives:
- Driving evidence based and scientifically rigorous lung disease policy and program development;
- Acknowledging the global and national importance of climate change and its impact on air quality and lung health;
- Catalysing collaboration and consumer engagement in programs and research to bring about lasting change and positive impact;
- Closing the gap in lung disease which disproportionately affects First Nation Australian and we commit to targeting our services to those in our community that need it most;
- Mobilising our communities so all Australians living with lung disease are afforded equitable, dignified and timely health care, and shifting the narrative so it is fee from stigma;
- Generating and sharing knowledge and informing lung and public health policy;
- Influencing funding by changing the gross disparity that exists in lung health and lung cancer research investment;
- Raise, invest and ethically apply funds to advance its objectives;
- Celebrate the passion and talents of our people and partners and the accountabilities placed on both staff and volunteers to be purposeful leaders.
