Summary of activities

1. We installed a power generator to ensure electricity is always available at the Discovery Centre for the community to access water, cooking, washing and communication facilities in emergencies. Other key activities in maintaining a centre of excellence were upgrading our hot water system and printing facilities. 2. We worked with other community groups to establish BBIRT, the Boyne Burnett Inland Rail Trail committee and donated the cost of incorporation to the group. 3. We obtained and administered on behalf of the community a We Are Queensland grant from the Queensland Premier’s Department. Our resulting Coming Together project had local community groups volunteer to host one community function per month. The functions linked families, strengthened local networks, discovered common interests and built community connectedness. 4.Hosting the big event, the Boyne Valley Country Music Campout18 and associated Poets Breakfast, provided an opportunity for music makers, performers and listeners to come together for a cultural weekend of music making, poetry recital and fellowship. This event increased tourist traffic to the region and raised $21 500 for our on-going advocacy work and promoted the Boyne Valley as a tourist destination, 5.The Boyne Valley website, https://boynevalley.org.au/ was upgraded to support local businesses, service clubs and social groups promote their community work and events.
