Summary of activities

The College runs educational events in line with its Objects, as stated on its website www.coum.org. The purpose of the events is to give people in all walks of life support and tools to deal with the increase of: (a) Stress; (b) Fatigue and exhaustion; (c) Pain; (d) Lifestyle choices; (e) Conflict; (f) Challenges to relationships; (g) Addiction; (h) Anxiety; and (i) Depression, all of which are of increasing importance across global society. The College's educational activities comprise broadly two classes of activities, firstly, courses that collectively comprise the formal syllabus, and secondly, community events and lectures which do not form part of the College's formal school syllabus. The College’s formal school syllabus comprises courses in such areas as relationships, stress and productivity in the workplace, understanding men and life addictions, depression and exhaustion, anxiety, well-being and metaphysics. The College conducted 9 courses in 2020. In addition, the College has conducted community events and lectures providing education in accordance with the company’s objects on healthy lifestyle and healthy living and dealing with issues commonly faced in modern society including such matters as dealing with addictions and challenges to relationships. The College has had to adapt to the changing times with delivery of its courses in 2020. The College has since March 2020 moved from face to face teaching to online delivery in order to provide educational courses. The College’s program reflects this change in response to community need. In 2020, the College presented an online program of study that sought to address the real life problems members of the public were facing during the COVID-19 pandemic. In keeping with the College’s educational commitment to present courses outside the formal education system that provide opportunities for adults to develop life skills across a broad range of topics, in April 2020 the College Board of Directors were aware that the Australian community were facing unprecedented changes in work and living in this current time, and in response to this the College of Universal Medicine offered a series of ten live presentations over a period of ten weeks at no charge to the public. To support the reach of this series the College invested in the online portal Zoom. This series proved highly successful with numbers in excess of 300 for some of the presentations. These presentations were then made available for viewing by the public online, also free of charge. The College also conducted 14 discussion groups, webinars or public presentations in 2020. All the courses and presentations are presented by experienced facilitators who freely donate their time and expertise to the College.
