Summary of activities

The CBAA champions community broadcasting by building stations' capability and creating a healthy environment for the sector to thrive. The CBAA provides a wide range of capability building services to the community broadcasting sector, including: - Creating and distributing a selection of the best news, talk, music and entertainment programs to 164 independent community radio stations via the CBAA’s Community Radio Network. The network reaches over 2.3 million listeners per week. - Distributing and promoting new Australian music to community radio stations nationwide via the Australian Music Radio Airplay Project (Amrap). This helps increase airplay for Australian artists and supports community broadcasters to promote Australian music on air and online. - Leading a number of information technology initiatives and online resources for the benefit of the entire Australian community broadcasting sector’s organisational capacity to reflect best practice and facilitate sustainable growth. This includes research initiatives such as the National Listener Survey. - Establishing and leading the operation of digital radio transmission and content delivery infrastructure for Community Digital Broadcast Licensees via the Digital Radio Project. - Providing stations with advice and resources on community broadcasting matters such as broadcast law, copyright, training, station development, studio design, acoustics, transmitter considerations, programming and complaint handling. - Supporting the sector transition to multiplatform delivery, increasing the reach of the sector.
