    • We raise awareness of the causes of stroke and how to reduce the risk of having a stroke. To prevent stroke, save lives and enhance recovery, we develop best-practice guidelines, support hospitals and health professionals, and promote research. We advocate for and implement personal, community and government support services for stroke survivors and their families to reduce the distress caused by stroke.
Description of charity's activities and outcomes
Stroke kills more women than breast cancer and more men than prostate cancer. It is the leading cause of adult disability in Australia. With our supporters, 2017 set another record for free health checks delivered in Australias Biggest Blood Pressure Check, the launch of Australias first Mobile Stroke Unit (Stroke Ambulance) and government advocacy followed the delivery of a report showing a health care divide between city and regional areas delivering stroke care services. Research continues to be a cornerstone of the organisation with grants dispersed to health professionals and almost 28,000 stroke survivors and their families received the My Stroke Journey recovery guide. Support to thousands of stroke survivors to help them live well after stroke remains a core program.
