The ACNC has published four new de-identified registration decision summaries which provide insight into how the ACNC assess applications for charity registration.
These summaries are part of ACNC’s objectives to increase transparency and build public trust.
The four newest summaries focus on:
- the need to ensure that adequate safeguarding measures are in place when an organisation works with vulnerable beneficiaries
- when registering for the subtype ‘advancing public debate’, ensuring that the activities conducted further charitable purposes
- the type of historical documentation required to have a charity registration application backdated
- eligibility of organisations that also conduct commercial activities to become charities, and the responsibility they have in ensuring they maintain and further charitable purposes.
