Charities and NFPs are invited to forums, taking place in the Northern Territory next month, to hear firsthand from:
- Sue Woodward AM, Commissioner of the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC)
- William Day, Deputy Commissioner Small Business, Australian Taxation Office (ATO)
- Amanda Nobbs-Carcuro, Executive Director, Industry Capability and Licensing, Department of Trade, Business and Asian Relations
- Duncan Poulson, NT Regional Commissioner, Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC)
- In Alice Springs, the panel will also include Tricia Stroud, Registrar, Office of the Registrar of Indigenous Corporations (ORIC)
The forums will clarify the role of each regulator, provide updates and discuss hot topics, as well as allow time for Q & A. Regulators also want to hear about issues facing charities and NFPs working in the NT.
“These forums offer a rare chance to have regulators in the same room. We are grateful to be collaborating with governance and peak sector bodies for these events,” Ms Woodward said, “and there will also be a chance to meet each other and exchange ideas afterwards.”
The ‘Charity and Not-for-profit Regulation Forums: Building a Better Future Together’ forums are free events from 3.30 - 5.00pm in:
- Alice Springs on Tuesday 20 May, and
- Darwin on Wednesday 21 May.
A panel discussion will explore questions about sector obligations to the ACNC and to other regulators. “Charities and not-for-profits are the heart of communities in Darwin and Alice Springs, as well as regional and remote communities across the Northern Territory,” Ms Woodward said.
